The adapter is a solid product, but if lead content is of importance to your application, be aware that it contains a significant amount of lead.
The 3M Lead Check test I used turned bright red (indicating lead). [SEE: Photo]
I would not use this in any application where you’re going to be drinking the water nor would I use it to fill drinking troughs for animals.
I’m not sure how bad it would be for watering plants or soil, but as the saying goes, you reap what you sow. If you’re going to eat any of the plants, it might not be wise.
For laundry, washing cars, etc… it’ll probably be alright.

I recently purchased a power washer in order to get our patio ready for summer and needed an adapter for to connect the hose to the indoor tap. After a couple attempts, tons of research and buying/sending back wrong adapters, I came across this. I found a work around where I could connect the hose right to the cold water supply under the kitchen sink.
So I had a 3/4 connection on one end of the hose to connect to the supply, but I also needed one on the other end to connect to the power washer. That’s where these beauty’s come in. I only needed the female/female adapter, so I can’t speak on the male/male effectiveness, but the one I needed works perfectly.
For those complaining about it leaking/not being sturdy etc. in order to fix this, you just need to apply an extra washer on each end and put some plumbers tape on the threads. Creates a PERFECT and leak proof seal.

Was skeptical thinking this would be cheap metal and only 1 side would turn to tighten. But pleasantly surprised, I need a double female and for a hose cart and these worked perfect. Made of a heavier metal than I expected and both sides turn nice and easy, along with a great grit to grip and turn by hand. Sealed with no problem and havent had a worry since. Would buy again. Seller was on time and product arrived in good condition

These are first quality adapters, you get 2 male and 2 female. More than enough to meet any need you may have and the price you can’t beat it. I found just a male adapter at a local hardware store for 8.99. So do the math, this is a great deal.

Mine came with four extra hose washers and not just the four shown. I only needed one female to female connector for my project. It will be nice to have the male to male and the spare female to female though. These are surprisingly sturdy for the price (I was impressed) and I imagine they will outlast my garden hoses by many years.

The thread on these is the correct diamaeter but THE WRONG PITCH for tap/hosepipe connectors.
The thread pitch is more coarse, so about three three teeth on these = FOUR/FIVE on hosepipe connectors, which is why the leak.
Furthernmore if you do manage to tighten them up enough (as they will go onto plastic connectors), you will have ruined the connector you’ve just put them on.

I use they primarily for switching hose coupling end genders so I can use water from my rain barrels or to connect them together for filling. Nicely made and finished – no rough edges, water tight and comes with good washers. Good internal diameter so the water flow is not reduced much if using it with gravity feed or pump pressure. A good buy

My house has gotten dirty from all the rain we’ve had so far this year. I determined it was time to put my pressure washer to use, but I’ve always had a problem attaching the garden hose to it. It was a struggle the last time I tried, but this time it was just impossible. Perhaps the threads on the male end of the hose were slightly out-of-round. I don’t know. I just struggled for a half hour trying to screw the hose into the pressure washer without any luck. Then I decided to look for some kind of adapter that might work and found this one. The first time I tried, it screwed into the washer and then I connected the hose to the adapter! It worked perfectly. I’m so glad I found this. It seems very sturdy and well-made; and shiny. Thanks to this adapter my house is now much cleaner looking!

These arrived within a day of my order, were easy to use on my standard hoses, and felt sturdy and well built. They were easy to install and reasonably priced. I’ve had them only 4 days but they seem to me to be a a great buy!

Cutting grass over my just moved, cold (non flexible) garden hose, I accidentally cut it. The built in wire stiffener precluded (without a major leak) use of one of those internal 2 way male inserts with outer clamps. Using one of these handy things, I was able to salvage the hose length! It now ends with just a plastic hose end (no threaded metal) but that works fine for me to watering plants and dwarf fruit trees from a rain barrel! Saved money and kept a hose out of the landfill! Lesson learned-if you move a cold garden hose to mow, it will not lay flat! I can usually mow over hoses with 2 1/2″ setting, but not over a cold, just moved hose.
